news of a cataclysmic showdown between the cullens and victoria attracted a fair amount of unwanted attention from members of the bloodsucking species and things are not looking good for humanity. news apparently spreads fast in the vampire world, and with all of the commotion caused several months ago, one of the most notoriously illusive families - the dresden's - have decided to see what all of the fuss was about. upon hearing that the cullen family got themselves into a little scuffle with the volturi a year ago, they’re intrigued to see how far the family will really go to defend themselves and their human companions. though they’re making an effort to interact with the forks residents, unlike the cullens, their diets are strictly carnivorous. and when the thirst takes control, there’s no stopping them. the ultimate purpose of their stay? to torment the cullens in every way possible.
of course, the dresden family aren't the only vampires to hear about the infamous cullen family. vampires of both ‘diets’ are flocking to the town in hope of catching a front row seat to history, but unfortunately for them, the battle was over before they arrived. now though, after noticing the hesitant - and slightly hostile - reaction from the cullens, they’ve decided to stick around with the hopes that isabella swan - the resident danger magnet - will attract some more unnatural hazards and provide them with some other form of entertainment.
the thing is, the volturi are less than thrilled with the cullens’ newfound popularity, and - completely unaware that they’re about to put their lives at risk- are planning a trip to america amid fears of a rebellion of ungodly proportions. they’re not about to sit back and be willingly overthrown by anyone - least of all carlisle cullen.

[/b]an empty silence spread like wildfire across the clearing, suffocating sam in a heartbeat. even the cicadas stopped their hollow symphonies for a moment, as the atmosphere took a considerably sullen turn. sam stood firmly in the center, his head tilted from side to side as he surveyed the surrounding area for any sign of movement. tonight had been a particularly long shift, and terribly dissatisfying for the newly belligerent werewolf, who - after receiving news of a vampire outbreak - was more than ready for a good vampire brawl. sighing in defeat, sam alerted jacob of his return before spinning on his heels and starting towards the reservation.
and then he heard it.
the ominous rustling of the bushes behind him; the almost inaudible patter of approaching footsteps, growing louder and louder until an unfamiliar darkness engulfed him in one swift hit.

sam uley was dead.
the four simple words didn’t initially register in Jacob’s mind. how could sam be dead? he’d just spoken to him barely two minutes ago and he sounded healthier than ever. what on earth could have happened between the two minutes they weren’t connected? what was so impossibly fast, that could have struck sam before he could blink?
“the cullens.”
jacob growled, his hands tightened into fists as his nails cut into his palm. he turned his gaze back towards the house, where billy and the others were desperately trying to control the inconsolable emily. he was going to avenge sam, even if it was the last thing he did…
jacob’s lingering feelings for bella have been overridden with a burning desire to finish what sam started and rid Forks of the ‘bloodsucking scum’. problem is, the arrival of an unfamiliar werewolf pack have disorientated jacob - they claim to want to help, but jacob’s unsure on how far he can trust them. after all, isn’t it a coincidence that they appear from nowhere, the day after sam’s murder?
