I promise you guys i am trying as hard as i can to get the site cleared up as fast as i can but we've been majorily spammed - this time worst than the rest.
Kimmy is now online and helping!! Spell is on my old account helping too!
I've been at this since 8 o'clock and it's now 10 o'clock! I'm meant to be writing a plot and working on my own site but instead i'm doing this for you lot!!
I promise we'll be clean soon.

It stinks (and that's understating the matter), but we're working to fix this ASAP.
I'd just like to add that if you receive a PM from an unactivated member (aka with a black display name), please don't open it.

Thank you Guys who helped! I could only delete the ones via the user thread delete thing because I was on four mins net time cause I'm on mobile Board band and Id used my quota for the month and I had like a MAJOR important exam the next day.
Thank you all for your amazing help and I am currently working with someone to put more protections up on the site so bare with me xx

Basically Dregond Rahl who I believe is lurking around here somewhere -shifty eyes- has written a code so it helps prevent bots and things making accounts which is how they do so much in so little time. More things are being done.
Also yeh I like your idea Alice we can start sorting it out tomorrow when its not majoor late here!

As my name indicates I'm Greg. I do some assisting in ProBoards Support but I am not staff or an official representative from ProBoards.
I'm posting because I got a verification email from this site for membership. I didn't register for this site so I was just wondering if this was related to the problem mentioned in this thread.
Just who has registered me for this site and why?

Hi Greg.
Yes, that e-mail would definitely be related to the problem. Apparently out spammer likes to register accounts using random e-mail addresses. At least, this is my personal assumption.

Here we go again. Thank you Rosalie, I got that email this morning. I'm glad to hear that it wasn't your admin or any of your staff. I just wanted it cleared up. Strangely enough, this particular email comes on the heels of another I got yesterday. Not to become a member of their board but that they saw me in ProBoard Support and wanted me to help with their website. I've not replied to that one either. *Sigh* I guess I'm going to have to elect to hide my email in my PBS support. I hope this problem you are having isn't wide spread. Good luck.  |

actually, it's very widespread. A significant amount of people are quite mad at us. But yes, it certainly was not any of our staff, and the four of us are quite frantically trying to a) stop this site from getting deleted, b) combat the spam issue and c) explain exactly what happened to very ticked off guests. Any suggestions for any of the three are welcome.

Yes I'd like to apologies to any guests who are having the same problem as Greg. We are doing all we can so you will have to bare with us. It is not us or any of our members just a bunch of spammers.
Also to all members you will now notice you are classed as staff this is another idea of ours to cut down on the spaming. It doesn't mean you have staff powers etc x

Another suggestion in helping stop the smmers is not to allow guest posting. This how most sites get trashed out in the matter of hours. To change the setting just go to the modify boards and for each board select the members only option to where only members can post. Also, if you haven't already, set your registrations to preapproval that s located in the General settings area. The only thing you can keep doing is bann the trouble makers. Good luck.

Thanks ive already done that, they manage to post and then spam other sites and accuse us. It however to anyone who might be from a spammed site not us.
