;; appearance
general;; In general, Corin looks like every other vampire. He is pale, has red eyes and sparkles in sunlight. However, like the others in the Volturi coven, his skin is more translucent than vampires who are active and outdoorsy, such as the Cullens with their white, marble skin. Corin has spend many, rather inactive, years down in the Volturi residence, gathering dust, and obtaining a chalky pastiness, therefore the sparkling is not as powerful as it has been. While most vampires have flawless skin, Corin was born with freckles and they followed him into the immortal life. Now, 427 years later, they look more like soil splattered in his face, and hardly as visible. His eyes are of a crimson color or just blood red to put it simple, reflecting the food of his choice; human blood.
Standing at 5 ft 11 inches, Corin is a quite tall man, though defiantly not the tallest among the Volturi guard. His body is lean and not very muscular seeing that he depends more on speed than strength in battle. Getting more in detail, Corin has a short, thin nose with a small bump, while his most noticeable features are his wide mouth and full lips. Unlike his last name suggests, Corin dosen’t have curls but merely wavy hair. It is dark blond and usually a bit ruffled. His face commonly varies between three sets of expressions; a mocking smile, a haughty sneer or plain nonchalance.
To avoid unnecessary attention, the Volturi have always dressed modernly for whatever decade. The only persistent thing Corin wears is the Volturi trademark, the dark cloak.
favorite;; His red eyes and everything else that makes him intimidating.
hate;; The freckles.. Being dangerous and having freckles just doesn't apply. But that's about it. Corin is not vain but just comfortable with his appearance.
heritage;; Italian, Irish
ethnicity;; Caucasian
;; personality
general;;
A life in vampire luxury has taken it's toll on Corin. Over the past centuries with the Volturi, Corin has only experienced two major disturbances that required all of the guard; first the southern wars and then the trouble with the Cullen's hybrid child. He is not sent to maintain the law as often as others in the Volturi guard, Demetri and Felix for instance, and is more accustom to staying in Volterra. This doesn't bother him the least bit because most of the task's are rather dull and over in a minute. So he spends his days dwelling with the Volturi coven, eating, studying and relaxing. But if someone was to pick a fight with him, he would not hesitate. In regard to that, he does have problems stepping away when a fight is lost. Being a part of the invincible Volturi coven has boosted his ego and sense of being superior.
Corin has always been easily bored, even as human. Having walked the earth for more than 400 years, he feels that he is running out of activities. He still studies various things that catches his interest but it takes a lot to excite him for real. It's been suggested, more than once, that he should find a mate to enjoy himself with but Corin is not someone who believes in all the love nonsense. Love at first sight, soul-mates, true halves; none of these phrases mean anything to him. They are simply words thrown around like 'hello' and 'goodbye'. Besides, he's never met someone whom he could picture himself with.
Humans are food; they have always been food and should always be considered food! Corin thinks very lowly of vegetarian vampires, mostly because he doesn't understand their way of thinking. Actually, he doesn't even want to try to understand them. The Cullen coven annoys him the most. He would give anything to fight them, and still feels the anger and humiliation from their last encounter. In his opinion, the hybrid child should have been killed, along with everybody defending it. Corin does defiantly not share Aro's fascination with the Cullen's lifestyle nor Edward and Bella's love.
Like the rest of the Guard, Corin was invited to join Volturi because Aro saw something he liked. Corin is in fact a vampire with a special gift. He has the power to erase or enhance the memories of another, in other words; Memory manipulation. His gift does have restrictions though as he must touch the person whose memory he wishes to alter. In basic terms, it work's like Aro's talent. Once he touches a person, he can read their memories like an open book and modify them as he wishes. The only exception to his gift is Bella Cullen; something which is extremely annoying.
Not unlike a cat, Corin likes to play with his victims and watch their horror. Although, humans aren't so much fun anymore seeing that their reactions pretty much are the same every time. It's quite a bore to watch them cry and curl up in a corner for the 100th time.. One of the most thrilling things is to watch Jane in action. Corin is quite fond of her due to her violent nature. He too is a rather sadistic person.
So, do Corin have any positive personality traits, one might ask. He is indeed loyal to his coven. Aro took him in, a gesture Corin appreciates though it was for Aro's own winning. He has never considered leaving Volterra and thinks badly of those who does, no matter what their reasons are. With Volturi he has a bond and a purpose.

;; origins
general;;
Corin Rizzo was born April 28, 1681 in the Italian town Loreto, now known as Loreto Aprutino. His father's family, the Rizzo's, had lived in the town through several generations, providing themselves as farmers and gardners. They had some land where they grew Laurus and sold the bay leaves. As the family's first son, Corin was expected to keep the business running as his father, Jacopo, and the Rizzo's before him had done. Maura Rizzo, originally Maura Killin, was half Irish, half Italian and from a town near Loreto. The two were arranged to be married because the families wealth were near equal. Corin was born to continue family business and therefore it was not necessary to attend school, although the Rizzo's were fairly wealthy and could afford it for one of their children. If he had not been forced to tread in his father's footsteps, he would have studied latin to become a priest. As it was, he only learned to read.
Jacopo Rizzo, Corin's father, was not a kind man. He was a strict catholic, and believed in hard work and consequences. Corin never liked his father nor his mother for ignoring the beating but as it was, he was young and had nowhere to go. Time passed by, and Corin had four siblings; Zita, Lino, Carmela and Olivia. To say that he loved his family would be a huge exaggeration. All Corin ever wanted was to study, even if it had to be theology, and the work he was forced to do made him a bitter boy. He didn't dare to stand up against his father and instead took it out on his minor siblings, especially Lino who kept following him as a loving and devoting brother.
When Corin was eighteen years old, he became interested in a young lady in town and began courting her. She was considered one of the most beautiful girls in the Abruzzo region. But with this beauty came a vainness, and she had many admirers, some whom were higher ranked in society than Corin Rizzo. A year of courtship went by, and the marriage seemed to fall in favor of Corin. Love was not something the two young people shared but more of a common interest in each other. Corin thought she was beautiful and liked her mischievous behavior while Armida, as the girl was named, liked Corin's nonchalance. She was annoyed yet roused by the carelessness he treated her with, not like the other men who worshipped her.
One night it all went wrong.. Armida invited Corin for a midnight stroll, a little outside town, where she tried to force a reaction out of him. An innocent flirt finally did it but Corin lost control and tried to take it further than a kiss. The fun vanished, and Armida slapped him, trying to get away but instead of stopping him, it only angered him further. Knowing where it was heading, Armida screamed. Corin, who feared his father more than anyone else, only saw one desperate option to keep her from telling. That night he strangled a young woman..
For three years he kept the facade. No one knew for sure who murdered Armida from Loreto but when a young boy, deeply in love with her, committed suicide one week later they all pointed at him as the murderer. Corin was walking on the edge of insanity. The only option left was abandoning his old life. Packing his things, he left Loreto without a word. The next three years of his human life were also the best. He walked the unfamiliar roads of Italy, worked wherever he was needed, slept outside, bought books for his money, and whenever he felt the urge for a warm bedroom, he visited older, lonely women. The young man came as far as Venice where he temporarily worked for an academic, trading his service for lectures. It was also in Venice that his life would change forever, or rather end.
Carnival of Venice, 1706. Corin experienced a carnival for the first time in his life. Of all the colors, all the beauty and magnificence that surrounded him, one masked beauty caught his eye. Unable to let go of his fascination, he followed her. He tried to yell to stop her but she kept on running, sometimes looking over her shoulder, giggling and waving at him. Finally, in a street far away from the loud music and glittering lights, she ended her running. The belle was draped in long, golden fabrics, which like he'd never seen, and her long, black hair flowed over her shoulders and down her back. Her face was covered behind a cream colored mask decorated with multicolored feathers and glinting stones. At that time, he thought it was an flash of light that made her eyes twinkle red.
He did not oppose when she removed his black mask, and found it anything but odd that her lips were cold as ice. It almost seemed as if she was trying to map him with her caressing fingers. How long went by Corin couldn't tell because of his daze but finally she uttered her first words to him. Amore mio, I hope I get to keep you. The silky words were mumbled into his shoulder. Corin understood little of the strange language that followed 'amore mio', my love, but he gave it no more thought as he felt her teeth sink into his flesh.
Painful days in darkness passed. The agony was beyond anything he'd ever felt. Worse than the sore marks and humiliation after his father's beating, worse than the mental prison he'd been in after murdering.. Corin was sure that the angel of death had caught him, and he now lied in hell, burning for all eternity. Then the pain suddenly stopped, and he awoke in a bed. The room was pitch black but somehow he could still see everything clearly, hear everything clear, smell everything.. His body felt different. Cold, hard like his death angel's had been. And hungry. His throat burned. Perhaps it was next part of hell? But she came, his belle, and everything was explained. He didn't question her but took her hand as she viewed her masterpiece. His first meal was a young man, the first of many.
Corin traveled with Gemma for nearly four decades. She had long sought companionship but by her own making, yet she had failed the transformation many times. Finally, in Venice, Gemma had succeeded. Corin was fascinated with his superhuman powers and loved being a vampire far more than he loved her. He owed her for the new world she had so generously introduced him to but never shared her strong feelings. Gemma was blind in love, too blind. Corin had discovered his talent for memory manipulation but did not master it completely. Although practicing on humans, he had his slips when touching Gemma.
When he met the Volturi they also came to know of his gift, and Aro whom collected talented vampires for his 'collection', invited Corin. Gemma laughed of it all, thinking there was no way Corin would ever dream of leaving her. Having been with her for forty years, he had developed a relationship that dismissed her being killed for his own gain so instead he made what he refers to as a 'magnificent performance'. Gemma left them without any knowledge of ever meeting, changing or traveling with Corin Rizzo.. Now Corin is 427 years old and have been with them ever since. That's except the two days he visited Loreto. During his visit a certain family, named Rizzo, was mysteriously murdered.
