After spending over a year saving the world on various occasions, Maximum Ride and her flock have finally gotten a chance to lay low and relax for a while. With the help of Max's parents, the flock now has a home in the small city of Walton, Connecticut. Now they have the chance to take it easy.
But things are never that easy for the flock.
Silver Skies, Itex's chief rival, has started up the Biogen Initiative, their program to create mutants like Itex once did. Only Biogen isn't starting from scratch all the time-while some are changed as embryos, others are being changed as children and teenagers, through a painful but survival process. To make matters worse, the Biogen Initiative has its own flock-referred to by Max and the gang as the "B-Flock"-sent to capture the Itex flock and any other Itex experiments, as well kids for Biogen's experiments. So with more former Itex experiments showing up in Walton and more teenagers disappearing each day, will Max and the rest of the flock be able to handle it? Or will the B-Flock overwhelm them?
